Yael Unterman was born in Jerusalem, Israel.
She grew up in Manchester, England, and returned to Israel
at the age of 18. In addition to spending several years on advanced Torah studies, she earned a BA in Psychology and Talmud from Bar Ilan University, an MA in Jewish History from Touro College, and an MA in Creative Writing from Bar Ilan University.

Yael has guest lectured and performed on five continents, and has authored books, stories, articles, original plays and more.
Her first book, Nehama Leibowitz: Teacher and Bible Scholar (Urim Publications) was a finalist in the 2009 National Jewish Book Awards, Modern Jewish Thought category.
Her second book "The Hidden of Things: Eleven Stories of Yearning," a linked short story collection, is due for publication with Yotzeret Publishing in 2012/13. See more here.
